Feeding issues differ from age to age. This could start during the starting days of baby birth or in due course of time. Let the concerns not raise, if the baby does not intake good quantity of food in its initial stages. Firstly check for the weight of the baby, if it depicts normal rate then give the baby its time to suckle. Few babies have problem while feeding this could be because cleft, premature birth, general illness, etc. If the issue does not fall in any of these categories and the baby is not feeding properly, then check if the baby is suffering from gastro-esophageal, cystic fibrosis, food tolerance or any other form of ailments. The baby ailed with any of these diseases, do not gain weight.
Apart from neonates; the problem of feeding is spread even to the older children. The factors that might cause feeding problems in older kids are: emotional, social factors or eating disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia. There is no gender barring for feeding problems, both the sexes carry this issue. Symptoms for disorder might vary, but common indications include:
• Food denial
• Lack of appetite
• Acute abdominal pain (colic)
• Diarrhoea
• Constipation
• Weeping before or after food
• Vomiting
• Behavioural problems
• Fail to gain weight

Most of the feeding problems in small babies or toddlers or growing children, are resolved by themselves without any medical aid. But if the issue is grave it is always advised to seek the help of a general physician or pediatrist. Major side effect of this feeding problem is loss of weight.

Children with this disorder should not be forced to indulge in eating. Be flexible in handling and adapting to the eating habits of your kids. For few weeks give them the freedom or chance to pamper them with the kind of food they wish for. For fussy eaters, attract and encourage them by offering wide range of foods at frequent intervals and supply small meals to keep up their nutrient level.

Stress on keeping the baby healthy rather gain weight.
