Children’s appetite varies from adults and it changes from time to time. It is good to feed the child the kind of food they ask for, than forcing them to have it with dislike. Habituating good food habits is the primary concern every parent carries. Make every meal your child has enjoyable. If kids are fed with foods fastened with rules then there are chances of them to know the importance of retaining the nutrients or having healthy diet. Forceful eating would result in bad eating patterns.
At times toddlers tend to consume very less quantity releasing concerns in parents or care takers. But, this condition is quite normal in many kids. It is always good to follow some healthy regime helping the child to intake new foods that bear good amount of nutrients, calories and other healthy supplements. If certain thumb rules are followed while feeding the child, then it paves a path of happiness for both the feeder and the child.
Guidelines:
• Every time you supply new foods to the child, ensure that it is coupled with familiar foods.
• Allow the child to consume till they are full. Asking them to eat more than what the child can have results in inability to judge when they are replete.
• Provide desserts that are filled with yoghurt, fruits, and other necessary nutrients.
• Provide small meals or snacks in order to retain the energy levels and help in their growth.
• At times allow children to select their own diet from a variety of nutritious foods and eat only as much as they want.
• Remember that children lose their patience when they are hungry. So be prepared with light snacks at home or in the bag.
• Do not get alarmed when children do not tend to eat for short periods. This is also one of their normal behaviours.
• It is a good habit to offer nutritious foods to children. And is a must for a child to consume 1000 calories per day.
